Police are investigating a fatal shooting at a Santa Fe shopping mall.
Police Chief Aric Wheeler says a man was shot around 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Santa Fe Place mall on the city's southeastern side.
Wheeler says the man was taken to St. Vincent Regional Medical Center and died a few hours later. Police did not immediately release the man's name or other details about the shooting.
However, KOB-TV says the victim is 18-year-old Chris Aguayo. Family members told the station that Aguayo was about to do some shopping at the mall and was shot near his car by an unknown assailant.
Police say they plan to interview more witnesses and will be executing search warrants and searching Aguayo's vehicle.
