Committees
The following councils allow executives at every level to stay involved in the loss prevention community and a superior industry network to their peers.
Loss Prevention Advisory Council
The Council, composed of senior loss prevention executives from diverse retail sectors, meets frequently to discuss common problems confronting the retail industry and to share new ideas on product and program results. The Council is also active in the planning of the Loss Prevention Conference, Senior Executive Summit and developing subcommittees to better serve the industry. Participation is by invitation only.

LP Awards and Recognition Committee
The Awards and Recognition Committee develops initiatives to recognize law enforcement professionals/agencies and loss prevention/asset protection professionals. During the Annual LP Awards ceremony at the NRF LP Conference, these professionals are honored with: the NRF Law Enforcement Retail Partnership Award (LERPA), the NRF Loss Prevention Case of the Year award and the Ring of Excellence. Additionally, the LP Volunteers in Action recognition program honors loss prevention professionals for their charitable work.

LP Conference Planning Committee
The Conference Planning Committee works to develop topics and content for the annual NRF Loss Prevention Conference and Senior Executive Summit.

The Diversity Committee was developed to promote inclusion and diversification in the loss prevention industry.

LP Education and Research Committee
This group of industry professionals was assembled to explore and network with universities and education programs related to the loss prevention field.

LP Homeland Security Committee
The Homeland Security Committee provides loss prevention professionals expedited access to critical information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other government agencies. Through this partnership, the NRF has been instrumental in assisting DHS develop a link between the public and private sector(s) and coordinating during times of crises such as natural disasters, weather emergencies and man-made crises (e.g. active shooters and terrorist attacks). Member companies are often selected to participate in Homeland Security training programs and exercises around the country.

LP Joint Organized Retail Crime Task Force (JORCTF)
The JORCTF has a primary focus of developing standard training and awareness programs for retail loss prevention professionals and law enforcement officers. Members are invited guests from retailers, manufacturers and law enforcement agencies who investigate and share intelligence as it relates to organized retail crime activity and fencing of illegal and counterfeit goods. Members have the opportunity to share investigative methods and tactics, develop and maintain law enforcement relationships across the nation and collaborate with other NRF LP Communities (i.e. NRF-Investigator’s Network and Legislative Committee). Participation is by invitation only.

LP Legislative Committee
This group was developed to help identify and establish LP priorities to set the legislative agenda of the industry, educate the loss prevention community and company executives. Additionally, the Committee educates legislative bodies and their members on loss prevention issues and heightens the awareness of impacting legislation at the local, state and federal levels. Participation is by invitation only.

LP NRF Investigator’s Network – sign up today
The NRF Investigator’s Network is comprised of over 1,500 retail loss prevention executives and law enforcement officials with primary responsibility for investigation of major cases for retailers. Several meetings are hosted in major cities around the country and allow retail loss prevention professionals, shopping center security and law enforcement to network.

LP Online Marketplace Working Group
The Online Marketplace Working Group is comprised of retail organizations, law enforcement agencies and online market place companies. Initiated to target online auction site offenders (selling counterfeit or illegally obtained merchandise), the group works together on major losses/investigations; proposing legislation to protect both retailers and online market places from illicit activity and in gathering information for law enforcement.

LP Women in Loss Prevention Caucus – sign up today
The Women in Loss Prevention Caucus is a forum that encourages women to network and learn from each other. The purpose of the Caucus is to provide opportunity for empowerment through shared learning and mentoring, to support women in reaching their career goals. This group meets annually and conducts quarterly conference calls for all retail loss prevention professionals (male and female) to discuss the issues that women face in advancing their LP career. The group is open to executives in the loss prevention division of retail companies and offers a mentor program for new loss prevention executives.
