DHS Training Opportunities During the First Quarter of 2012
The Office of Infrastructure Protection's Sector-Specific Agency Executive Management Office (SSA EMO) coordinates preparedness and infrastructure protection for a wide range of facilities, from commercial buildings to stadiums, theme parks, and shopping centers. Extremely diverse, the Commercial Facilities Sector has eight major components: Entertainment and Media, Gaming, Lodging, Outdoor Events, Public Assembly, Real Estate, Retail, and Sports Leagues.
In order to increase security and enhance resilience across the Sector, the SSA EMO has developed a series of tools, several of which are presented below, so owners and operators can strike an appropriate balance between open public access and security.

Given today’s ever-changing threat environment, preparing for and training employees to cope with workplace violence should be a key piece of an organization’s incident response planning. The workshop will review common behavior, conditions, and situations associated with active shooters; communications protocols, and best practices for planning, preparedness, and response.

This awareness level workshop will provide exposure to key elements of the IED threat, surveillance detection methods and soft target awareness. The workshop illustrates baseline awareness and prevention actions that reduce vulnerabilities to counter the threat and better enables the private sector to deter, prevent, detect, protect against, and respond to terrorist use of explosives in the U.S.

Cutting Edge Risk and Resiliency Tools Webinar top of page
The main objective of this webinar is to feature three new tools developed to improve the security and resilience of our nation’s buildings and infrastructure. The tools provide scores for risk and resilience and are capable of analyzing and compiling a range of high-performance requirements, including safety (earthquakes, floods, winds, and fire), security (explosives, ballistics and chemical, biological and radiological), environmental footprint and energy conservation, sustainability, durability, and continuity of operations.
